Frequently Asked Questions

Commitments - How It Works

Learn the basics of creating and managing your fitness commitments

What is a commitment?
A commitment is a personal challenge where you stake real money to motivate yourself to achieve a specific fitness goal. You set a goal (like walking 10,000 steps daily), choose how much money to stake, and set a time period. If you achieve your goal, you keep your stake and may earn from the reward pool. If you do not meet your goal, your stake is contributed to the pool shared with successful participants.
How do I create a commitment?
Tap the '+' button on the Commitments tab, then:

1. Choose your activity type (steps, calories, distance, etc.)
2. Set your goal amount and time period
3. Choose how much money to stake
4. Select 'Practice Mode' for a trial run, or proceed to stake real money
5. Review your commitment details
6. Sign with your finger to confirm

You'll need a valid payment method on file before creating staked commitments.
What is Practice Mode?
Practice Mode lets you try commitments without staking money. It's perfect for:

• Testing if your goals are realistic
• Getting familiar with how the app tracks your progress
• Understanding how commitments work before staking money

Practice commitments simulate the full experience with no financial risk or reward.
What happens when I sign a commitment?
When you sign a commitment:

1. Your payment method is verified for the staked amount
2. The commitment becomes active
3. The app begins tracking your progress automatically
4. You can monitor your progress in real-time
5. At the deadline, the app automatically evaluates if you succeeded

Your signature serves as digital consent to participate in a voluntary goal challenge using the amount you've staked.
What happens if I don't meet my goal?
If you do not meet your goal, your staked amount is contributed to a shared reward pool distributed among users who successfully completed their commitments. This system helps reinforce motivation through meaningful commitment, while also benefiting the broader user community.
Is staking money required to use the app?
No. Staking is completely optional. Users can choose Practice Mode to participate in all commitment features without any financial involvement. The core features of goal setting and progress tracking are accessible to all users regardless of financial participation.

Commitments - Rules & Verification

Comprehensive Q&A about how commitments are evaluated, success criteria, and verification processes

How are commitments verified?
Commitments are automatically reviewed by our system at the designated deadline:

• We analyze synced activity data from Apple Health
• The system checks whether your metrics meet the goal you defined
• Verification is fully automated and impartial
• Results are typically finalized within 24 hours of your deadline
• Each commitment card will display a status of SUCCESS or INCOMPLETE

The system relies solely on your Apple Watch and iPhone data and does not allow manual intervention.
What does 'SUCCESS' vs 'INCOMPLETE' mean?
Your commitment status reflects whether you met your defined target:

• SUCCESS: You reached or exceeded your goal (e.g., walked 10,000+ steps when the target was 10,000)
• INCOMPLETE: You didn't meet the required metric (e.g., walked 9,999 steps for a 10,000-step target)

There is no partial credit. This keeps the evaluation transparent and fair.
When exactly is my commitment evaluated?
Commitment review timing varies by type:

• Single-day commitments: Evaluated at 11:59:59 PM on that day
• Multi-day commitments: Evaluated at 11:59:59 PM on the final day
• The system waits an additional 24 hours to allow delayed Health data to sync
• Final results are confirmed within 48 hours

This grace period ensures all your data is accurately accounted for.
What if I don't wear my Apple Watch during my commitment?
Wearing your Apple Watch is essential for complete tracking:

• Missing data may result in an incomplete status
• The system cannot verify activities that weren't recorded

To ensure the most accurate results, wear your watch consistently throughout your commitment period.
Can I manually add activities or edit my data?
To maintain fairness and consistency:

• Only data from Apple Health is accepted
• Activities must be recorded by Apple Watch or a trusted Health-compatible app
• Manual entries in Apple Health are not considered

This ensures a level playing field across all users.
What if my internet connection fails during a commitment?
No need to worry—temporary connection issues won't affect your commitment:

• Activities are stored locally on your device
• Data is synced automatically once you're back online
• You have a 24-hour grace period for syncing before final review

Just open the app after reconnecting to ensure your activity is uploaded.
How accurate is the activity tracking?
We rely on Apple's official Health data for accuracy:

• Apple Watch uses industry-leading sensors for tracking
• Step and distance data are typically within 1-2% accuracy
• Calorie metrics are personalized using your age, weight, and heart rate
• GPS data is used when available for distance verification

We do not modify or reinterpret Apple's data—what you see is what we use.
Can I appeal a commitment result?
Appeals are reserved for rare and valid exceptions:

• Syncing issues with Apple Health
• Medical emergencies
• Verified app bugs or device errors

If you believe a mistake was made, please contact our support team with documentation. Routine appeals are not supported.
What counts as 'cheating' and how is it handled?
We take commitment integrity seriously to protect our community:

• Fabricated activity entries
• Artificial movement simulation devices
• Sharing devices to boost stats
• Attempts to tamper with tracking data

Violations may result in account restrictions or removal. Our system monitors for irregularities and enforces standards fairly.

Money & Payments

Comprehensive Q&A about the financial aspects of the app

How does the staking system work?
When you choose to stake money on a commitment, that amount is held and only processed if the goal is not met:

• If your goal is not completed, your stake is collected within 24–48 hours after the deadline
• The amount is the full staked value—no partial deductions
• Commitments completed successfully result in no charges
• The stake from unmet commitments is added to a community-based reward pool

This optional system adds accountability by encouraging users to follow through on their goals.
Where does my staked money go if I don't meet my goal?
Your staked amount is repurposed to support the community reward structure:

• 85% of unclaimed stakes go to the weekly prize pool shared among successful users
• 15% covers operational expenses (infrastructure, support, payment processing)
• This model rewards those who meet their goals and reinforces collective motivation
• The prize pool is viewable in the Stats tab

In short, your contribution supports others on their fitness journey.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept most major debit and credit cards:

• Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover
• Debit cards from leading financial institutions
• Valid cards must have sufficient funds
• Most international cards are supported
• All payments are processed securely through Stripe

Before joining a staked commitment, you'll need a valid card saved under Settings → Payment → Debit/Credit Cards.
When will I be charged?
You are only charged your stake if the goal tied to your commitment is not met:

• No charges occur if the commitment is completed successfully
• If your goal is unmet, your stake is collected within 24–48 hours after the deadline
• The grace period ensures accurate data syncing before evaluation
• You'll receive a confirmation notification if a stake is collected
• The charge may appear as 'Goal Commitment' or similar on your statement

There are no surprise charges—only the exact amount you chose to stake is processed if the outcome is incomplete.

Rewards & Prize Pool

Comprehensive Q&A about earning money and the reward system

How do I earn money from the app?
You can earn money by meeting your goals and qualifying for weekly reward distributions:

• Successfully complete your commitments for the week
• Meet the weekly activity threshold (2,800+ active calories)
• Maintain at least one active commitment
• Pass our standard account verification process
• Rewards are sourced from unused staked funds from incomplete commitments

Payouts are processed every Sunday and become available for withdrawal within 3–5 business days.
How is the weekly reward pool distributed?
Each Friday, the shared reward pool is distributed evenly among all eligible participants:

• The pool is composed of unused stakes from incomplete commitments
• Each eligible user receives an equal share
• Distribution is currently flat, not weighted by activity or stake
• More participants mean smaller individual shares
• Future updates may include proportional reward distribution

Your estimated share is available in the Stats tab, with amounts based on participation and pool size.
What are the activity thresholds for rewards?
To qualify for weekly rewards, you must meet our baseline activity level:

• Minimum: 2,800 active calories burned per week
• Roughly 400 active calories per day on average
• Active calories are tracked via Apple Watch during exercise and movement
• Must be achieved in the same week as your successful commitments

These requirements ensure rewards go to active and engaged users.
Why do I have 'pending' vs 'available' money?
We separate earnings into two types for clarity and security:

• Pending: Recently earned, awaiting processing
• Available: Ready for withdrawal
• Pending balances convert to available each Friday
• This delay allows time for payment validation and reversals
• View both balances under Settings → Withdraw Funds

This system helps ensure accurate and reliable payouts.
How do I withdraw my earnings?
You can easily transfer your earnings to PayPal:

• Add your PayPal email in Settings → PayPal Account
• Navigate to Settings → Withdraw Funds
• Tap 'Withdraw' to move your full available balance
• Funds are typically received within 1–3 business days

Note: Partial withdrawals are not currently supported.
